Cricket
Program Outline
- The aim of the program is to extend upon the skills and knowledge of the cricket experience gained outside the school environment.
- To achieve this, students will experience tuition in skill acquisition and be exposed to knowledge of all aspects of the game.
- This will involve practical and theoretical exposure to elements such as cricket history, skill acquisition, rules of the game, revision of game situations and competition in available tournaments.
- Every opportunity will be given to students to forge their career path from junior representative teams to grade and beyond.
- Parents will have the chance to speak with coaches about their child’s academic achievements, behaviour, and cricket development.
Training:
Summer Focus will be drawn from:
- Skill Acquisition, Nets Sessions, Game Simulation/ Game Sense, Technique Refinement and Analysis of Games.
Winter Focus will be drawn from:
- Nutrition, Match Analysis, Goal Setting, Tactical Awareness, Fitness Training, involvement in Indoor Cricket Competitions, Video Analysis of Individual Skills, Scoring Courses, Umpiring Courses and Coaching Courses.

Coach
Grant Jones (TAS teacher @ EVSHS)
Grant Jones leads our Cricket program as an accredited Level 2 Cricket Coach and Level 2 Umpire. With 48 years of involvement in the game, he has won premierships, been heavily involved in representative cricket, and currently serves as a Sydney Thunder Pathways Academy Coach.
Qualifications and Experience
Accredited Level 2 cricket coach
Accredited Level 2 Umpire.
Have played or been involved with cricket for 46 years. During this time, won premierships as both a player and a coach.
Ongoing and extensive involvement with representative teams.
Anthony Murphy (Director of Sports @ EVSHS)
Anthony Murphy brings extensive experience to the sport of cricket, with a strong background in both coaching and playing. A former Development Officer with Cricket NSW, he holds Level 2 Coaching Accreditation and has been actively involved in coaching since 1991. His experience spans school-level cricket, including Zone and Sydney South West SSA teams, as well as club and representative levels. Anthony also served as Coaching Coordinator for Revesby Workers Cricket Club from 2001 to 2010.
As a player, Anthony has represented NSW Masters in eight matches between 2016 and 2018 and was part of the Port Jackson (Sydney Masters Representative Team) side that won a state championship in 2017. He has captained several premiership-winning teams and continues to play competitively, currently representing Georges River Shires District Cricket Club at the Masters Level.
