Visual arts

During the visual arts subject students have the opportunity to explore their creativity and learn about art history. At Eagle Vale High School, we offer visual arts from Years 7 to 12. Including Stage 6 visual arts and photography and video digital media. 

Stage 4

Students will produce a range of finished artworks. The course encourages students to develop creative and critical thinking when engaging with art making and art theory studies. The course aims to develop students' research skills using faculty resources, library time and home studies.

Stage 5

Visual arts elective can be taken as a one year or two year course. The course broadens students' knowledge and skills acquired in the Years 7 and 8 Stage 4 mandatory course.

Students receive a visual arts process diary (VAPD) and access to practical art materials throughout the year when required.

  • the built environment
  • the modern art movement
  • post-modernism
  • social Issues (gender)
  • aboriginal art
  • natural environment
  • street art
  • portraiture.

Stage 6

Topics covered in Year 11 are:

  • pre-modern art
  • modernism
  • post-modernism.

Topics covered in Year 12 are:

  • case studies and bow research
  • expressionism and abstract expressionism
  • contemporary art
  • war art.
