Parent Code of Conduct

Parent Code of Conduct

Expectations

As a parent/guardian of a student who will be representing Eagle Vale High School and playing under the auspices of the rules and regulations of the relevant association, you must meet the following requirements regarding your conduct during any sporting activity or event:

  • Remember that your child participates in sport for their own enjoyment, not yours.
  • Encourage your child to participate, do not force them.
  • Focus on your child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
  • Never ridicule or yell at your child and other children for making a mistake or losing a competition.
  • Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performance and skilful play by all participants.
  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting events.
  • Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do likewise.
  • Show appreciation for the coaches and teachers. Without them, your child could not participate.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.
  • Be a positive role model.
  • Respect the decisions made by the coach.
  • Understand the repercussions if you breach, or are aware of any breaches of, this code of behaviour. These repercussions may include, but are not limited to, being unable to attend any sporting events or activities that your child might attend or your child having their position in the program withdrawn.

All training sessions and games will be organised and run by highly qualified and experienced coaches. Many of the coaches are qualified teachers, however, there may be several training sessions and games where the supervising coach is not a qualified teacher. If training is undertaken on the school site, the coach (who is not a teacher) can run the session provided they have the consent of parents/guardians/caregivers. Where possible, a teacher from Eagle Vale High School will be made available.
