Selection Procedures

Selection Procedures

To qualify for enrolment at Eagle Vale High School, a student must either live in the local drawing area or be selected on merit as a talented sports person. The criteria for selection on merit in the Targeted Sports Program are:

•    an outstanding sporting record or potential

•    a sound academic record

•    an excellent attitude towards school

•    a sound student welfare record

Once the Application form has been completed, it will be assessed, and the student may be invited to Trial for their chosen sport(s).

A Selection Panel will meet with the student and their parents/guardians/carers at an arranged time, after successfully completing the Trials.

The Selection Panel consider:

(a)        Information supplied on the application

(b)        Practical/Game skills testing conducted by TSP coaches and/or State Association Representatives (if this is deemed necessary).

(c)        Information on the School Reports supplied.

Offers of placement will be made to students as soon as possible after the interviews. These offers are subject to NSW Department of Education and Training enrolment procedures and are not final unless ratified by an interview with the Principal.

Successful applicants are required to be available to represent Eagle Vale High School in any Sydney South West, New South Wales Combined High Schools, New South Wales All Schools Carnival, game or competition for which he/she is selected.

As a school with a developing profile, students may be interviewed and/or photographed by the media. Frequently, student achievements will be celebrated in print and electronic forms of publication. Parents are expected to grant approval for such media appearances.

All sport students and parents of sport students enrolling at Eagle Vale High School are required to sign a Code of Conduct, which reinforces the conditions of their participation in the Targeted Sports Program.

A condition of “out-of-area” entry to Eagle Vale High School is membership of a Targeted Sports Program.  If a student withdraws or is withdrawn from a Targeted Sports Program, he/she will be expected to leave the school and seek enrolment at their local high school/school of their choice.
